A meal all can enjoy
We return to Daggerheart in the heat of combat!
Yet unlike DnD, no initiative is rolled. There is no turn order, the players must decide when they want to take the spotlight and more importantly, when they want to share it.
As the game master I pay a lot of attention to how long it has been since someone’s turn and the impact they feel they are having during a scene. Seeing the players observe those moments among themselves and pass the spotlight is both heartwarming and a challenge to my job security running the game.
I appreciate how modern TTRPG’s are alleviating a lot of the weight off of the game master’s shoulders and putting the agency into the players hands. Every choice the players can make is a lever they can pull to have their impact on the story. Whether it be taking multiple turns in a row in a desperate attempt to make that last attack hit or patiently waiting in the background until their moment to strike, your players will pleasantly surprise you.
